We eat lots of soft fruit, and love strawberries. So why not try them a different way ...

This year, we will be harvesting the following fruit varieties:
Strawberries
We grow only one variety of strawberry at Allanhill, which is Elsanta. Dutch bred, Elsanta is the main variety grown in Scotland and is popular due to its high yield potential and attractive, flavoursome berries. We use various techniques to push forward and delay the plants to extend and spread our season – which now lasts for over 5 months.
Raspberries
Tulameen is the raspberry variety we grow, which has a longer picking season than most, from late June to mid August. The bright, glossy berries have an excellent flavour.
Blackberries, or Brambles
Loch Ness, the most widely planted variety is thornless and produces excellent firm and glossy black fruit. Silvan, ripens early and has deep purple, softer berries.
Gooseberries
We grow a red variety called Pax, a virtually spine-free dessert gooseberry and also a green, good yielding fruit called Invicta.
Blueberries
The Blueberry that we grow is Bluecrop. This is a beautiful
berry, being quite large and very sweet.
